El Mariachi Goes "Home" to Nebraska:

The trip went without a hitch and El Mariachi is at his new home in Nebraska safe and sound as of Friday, January 11th. Tom, Mom and I followed the driver, David Moore (professional hauler based out of Iowa), as we left Canon City, CO around 8:45 am. (The guys there at the BLM were just terrific with everything - including getting us off to an earlier than usual start). We arrived in Alliance, NE about 4:30 pm with a couple of stops in between. El Mariachi trailered like a champ. As my Mom noted, he's just such a confident horse, he doesn't seem to panic at anything. Jason Meduna has a nice place there at 3-Strikes Ranch. One rescued mare really took a fancy to the new guy in the corral right away. I'll be going back soon when Jason will turn El Mariachi out with the rest of the herds and probably at least once a month for a while so I can watch and document how he adjusts and establishes his new family.

Jason told me that a few days ago, El Mariachi managed to open a gate to let some other horses into his corral. El Mariachi now has a new "girlfriend" in a cute little 10 year-old Mustang mare. Jason tells me that has really settled El Mariachi down - having the extra company. Jason has managed to get pretty close to El Mariachi going about his chores, ignoring El Mariachi while feeding and watering him. I'm so jealous. I'm hoping that some day, as he gets used to me, El Mariachi will be curious enough to come up close to me too.

Jason and I communicate regularly about the latest happenings at the ranch. He really has a way with the horses and absolutely loves the Mustangs. I think my stallion is going to be very happy in his new home.
